Dr. Sy was born and raised in Australia where her parents and older brother still reside. Due to her Malaysian Chinese heritage, she and her family would regularly visit their relatives in Malaysia which ignited her passion for traveling.
Ever since she can recall, Dr. Sy has had an inherent love for all animals, and a desire to help them in every way possible. If she could choose a superpower, it would be the ability to save animals' lives. It made sense that as soon as 5-year-old Sy discovered that a job as a Veterinarian existed, this became her sole aspiration in life. She had found her calling.
After years of blood, sweat and tears, it was her dream come true to be offered a place at her desired choice - the University of Sydney’s prestigious vet school. In Dr. Sy's final year, she accepted an externship at South Florida Wildlife Center, which led to her moving to the region.
Since then, she has worked extensively in private vet clinics, as well as non-profit hospitals and shelters where she was promoted to the role of Medical Director, as well as working in mobile, end-of-life hospice care. Additionally, she has provided countless hours of pro-bono work for various shelters and rescue groups, and has fostered senior dogs & cats, as well as puppies & kittens.
Being a veterinarian is Dr. Sy's life passion, and her patients' welfare is her top priority. During vet school, she was president of the University of Sydney Animal Welfare Society, as well as establishing the Vets Beyond Borders' Student Chapter. After moving to Florida, she was honored to accept the position of Florida State Representative for the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association.
Successfully educating her clients using her professional expertise is absolutely crucial to Dr. Sy's philosophy, because she wants your beloved pets to live their best lives - hence, the inspiration for creating PetParentsPro™.
We sincerely hope you love our resources as much as we loved designing them for you!
